We thank everyone for their time, participation and tremendous effort to make Cale Green WI the best it can be.
We
are very lucky to have some wonderful members leading our popular clubs.
Running
Set
up by Jacqui Evans, the 7 women who joined have managed to progress from not
running at all to running 5 km non-stop!
A lot of the women are now running 10 km! A great achievement.
Arts &
Craft
Joanna
Allen originally kindly offered to run an ‘Art & Craft’ club back in March 2016 and
since then the regular crafters and artists have created an array of wonderful
makes including hand painted cards, Rag wreaths, bunting and, most recently, a
charcoal drawing! Due to a recent move Joanna is no longer able to run the group so Jan Gough is organising sessions and session leaders.
Sewing
Cath
Gaskell started two sewing groups; a beginners group “sewing for the terrified”
and a general sewing group for women to drop in to as a social occasion to sew
and chat together plus an opportunity to get tips from Cath at her wonderful
studio in Hallam Mill. This has now been taken over by Jeanette Archer
Gardening
A
gardening club was started by Judith Beckett where the ladies met on a Tuesday
morning to work on a local garden which was transformed over a 5 month period
culminating in an ‘open garden’ event in July! Well done ladies for going out
in all weathers!
Book club
Sam
suggested a book club back in February and since then there have been a hard-core
group of women who meet at the pub (that well known literary hive of
creativity!) and discuss two books per month!

Sub-committees
These give the opportunity to develop members' specific interests; for example, craft work, drama, sport, and music. Each should appoint a Chairman, who reports to and is responsible to the main committee. The sub-committee may not hold funds, therefore all monies received and all expenses incurred are transacted through the Treasurer or Assistant Treasurer. See WI Constitution Rule 28
Please find below links to 3 useful documents:
*Please note that whilst the completion of the WI Committee Member's Declaration form is not compulsory, it is recommended that committee members be asked to declare their eligibility when taking on such roles. The statements made in the form are taken directly from rule 26 of the WI Constitution and Rules. The completed forms should be retained by the WI and destroyed when trustees leave office.
