New Leisure Courses @ Aquinas

Starting in September - New Leisure course at Aquinas College looks like there are some interesting ones.



Leisure & General Courses

offer a range of leisure courses you can study:

• Baking for Beginners - Monday evening 6.30 to 8.30 pm - available each term
• Build your own Business - (2 terms) evening 6.00 to 8.00 pm - September to March
• Cake decorating
• Classic Chef Cookery - Tuesday evening 6.30 to 8.30 pm - available each term
• Ceramics
• Creative Crafts
• Creative Stitches & Textile Art - Monday evening 6.45 to 8.45 pm - available each term
• Creative Writing 
• Dressmaking - Tuesday evening 6.30 to 8.30 pm - available each term
• Floristry - Monday evening 6.30 to 8.30 pm - available each term
• Horticulture
• Learn to use a sewing machine
• Painting and drawing skills (level 1 and 2)   
• Photoshop (Beginner) plus Photoshop using MAC pc
• Photography (Introduction) 
• Radical Women's History
• Woodwork Project - 24 week course - September to March

Most of these courses start in September (unless indicated otherwise) and depending upon numbers enrolling we hope to keep the course open for three terms. However you would pay on a termly basis (3 times per year).

It may be possible to join one of these courses part way through, however this is dependent upon previous experience. Please telephone the centre (0161 419 9163) for availability.

This Saturday from 2pm - 4pm.

Art & Craft Group

Just a reminder that the Art and Craft meeting is this coming Tuesday 2th July, usual time and venue (Walthew house, 7 - 9 pm).

Continuing with the bee embroidery onto calico, I'll bring along the calico, embroidery threads, etc, 

If everyone attending brings sewing scissors and reading glasses that'd be great, plus an iron too so we can use the bondaweb for the wings! 

I'm on the bus again so won't arrive before til 6.55

What a brilliant day

The weather was very kind. There were lots of visitors, the ice-cream man never stopped (always a good sign), and the hog roast was eaten up quite early on. The place was buzzing.


The Moonlight trio band had me in stitches...... I do love a dry sense of  humour. Their music was excellent too.


There was also our bee running around the event (only kidding), nothing to do with us, but you'd be surprised just how many people thought we were responsible for it). So thank you Cale Green Park Residents Association for promoting us ;o)

It was an early start for many. All the preparations, planning and hard work paid off as everything came together like a dream.

The most beautiful thing I saw on our stall was a typed list of everything we were selling, so we know what our best sellers are for next time.

For someone with OCD, this list was a thing of beauty.

The event hadn't opened...... but people were already having a nosey.

Your help and assistance was so effortless and heartwarming.

There was a rota, but no-one really kept to it we were having so much fun everyone stayed much longer to help promote our group and help out.

We met a lot of lovely women who didn't know we existed.

Many were genuinely interested in joining us. It would be lovely if they did :o)

We made just under £200 on the day (minus the stall hire of £30) so a very healthy £170 - not bad for a first attempt.
